RadioIndy is pleased to present Gregg Koval with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Drives It Home"
Gregg Koval has blasted out another great rock CD “Drives It Home.” Packed with edgy, guitar driven rock and funky blues, Koval keeps the beat moving and grooving. His vocals are right on the mark and capture the essence of this style of music. “Plenty Enough to Go Around” and “Take What You Need” equally show off the funky and bluesy side of this album. There is also a nice melodic guitar riff on “Wasting the Day Away”, with its catchy rhythmic run. Koval has a special talent for making his lyrics fun, as is heard on the song “Alien To Me.” Fans of Joe Walsh will definitely appreciate “Drives It Home”, a fun CD with energetic rock tunes and rock solid guitar solos. -Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team |

RadioIndy is pleased to present Gregg Koval with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Hits The Spot" “Hits The Spot” is a fun, guitar-driven rock album from do-it-yourself musician Gregg Koval and his backing band, The Toastmen. This album is actually two seven track albums in one - “Hits The Spot” and “On Ice”. The combination results in fourteen '70s rock-influenced anthems with plenty of jam sessions, guitar solos, and distortion. Combine this sound with Koval's vocal performances and the outfit as a whole creates a sound reminiscent of Joe Walsh and Dire Straits. The lyrics are fun and catchy, as Koval sings about love, parking cars, shortcuts, and winking, subjects you'll be singing along to in no time. Koval has a history of self-producing four-track recordings, so it should come as no surprise that he did the same with “Hits The Spot.” That said, the album sounds great and has an endearing quality that preserves the fun sound Koval is going for. “Telekinetic” begins with a great guitar solo intro, soon after matched note for note in the bass line and has a great overall arrangement and lyrics throughout. “Passing Time” is an instrumental track with great acoustic work and layering with electric guitar, bass, and drums. “On Ice” is filled with a haunting wind effect, excellent guitar riffs, and a great catchy rhyming chorus. “Hits The Spot” is a well-crafted double album with memorable lyrics and a fun rock sound. Fans of '70s rock and songs about the little things in life should certainly add this album to your collection.-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Review Team |

Hey, How's it going? I just wanted to write a quick note saying that the new CD Drives It Home will be available soon. It's all mixed and 90% mastered (just waiting on one more song), so I'm pretty geeked. Also a big thanks to everyone who listened to (and hopefully liked) Pictures. |

Hey, How's it going? Well, I just up loaded an old song of mine called Pop and Chips. Very fun. A cuter story is that it was denied entry into CBC's Hockey Night In Canada "Anthem Challenge" contest - because the "words were inappropriate". I don't get it. Just have a listen; there's no bad language at all. I'm sure there was a whack of songs that probably had phrases like, "he shoots, he scores" or"pull the goalie at the end of the period" but not a fun song about sharing. Oh - and the webpage has been updated for August: http://www.greggkoval.com

"Will Work for Money" by Gregg Koval is a fun collection of rock songs. Gregg's clever lyrical plays on words had us laughing throughout the CD. The combination of these clever lyrics and Gregg's knack for writing memorable choruses, will leave you with some repeatingly funny themes in your mind after listening to this CD - Go ahead, grab a handful and help yourself to these tracks. The music on the CD is solid as well, especially the guitar playing. "Knocked Up" was one of our favorites, with a catchy upbeat groove and a memorable chorus that had us cracking up. There's even some financial advise on the CD, with "Line of Credit." If you're looking to lighten up your day with some good tunes and good laughs, check out this CD. (Mature Themes). -RadioIndy Reviewer TeamCheck out Greg Koval's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites |

Well, once again I'm geeked. The new CD Hits The Spot will be available at CD Baby next month. So if you liked any of the songs I have so far then you'll probably end up liking these ones too. But one better: it's not 4-track anymore. I graduated to 20 more tracks (and digital too). Also a big thanks to RadioIndy for awarding me a GrIndiie Award and to everyone that had a listen/download to any of my songs. |

Well, I'm pretty geeked. On Wednesday and Thursday night I ended up getting, what will be the new CD, mastered. That new CD will be the last 2 CDs I did put on one magic CD: Hits The Spot and On Ice, both recorded last year. So hopefully by the end of the month or the beginning of next month, I'll have some tracks up on here. Also, it'll be up for sale at CDBaby - Man, I love those guys. Or there's always my website that will have more information: www.greggkoval.com I should mention that it was mastered at Sharktank Studios by Mark Plancke. It wouldn't have sounded better without him. Thanks, Mark. |

Well, the website has been updated for June ( www.greggkoval.com ) and also the band I'm in, The Toastmen, will be out playing Friday the 13th at Aardvarks in Windsor, Ontario. Times is tough for playing in this city. |

I know - pretty original title. Well, I'm pretty knocked out for what RadioIndy's done for me so far. And I also wanted to say thanks to everyone that has downloaded or listened to the songs. Makes me feel pretty good. So thanks again - I can never say that enough.

Welp, I just signed up with RadioIndy, so that's pretty neat. There's a good chance that I won't update this blog very much. Reason why is that I update my own website every month. That would be www.greggkoval.com. Anything new and exciting will wind up there first. But I hope this all works out. Thanks, |

A few new songs from the upcoming CD, Blind Date, will be up for July.
